T02 A: Soft Tissue is the Issue: Keys to Periodontal and Implant Success

Course Description: This course will explore the critical role of soft and hard tissue in maintaining periodontal and peri-implant health. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing soft tissue deficiencies around both natural teeth and dental implants, understanding the impact of these defects on long-term stability, and applying evidence-based methods for management. Participants will review diagnostic strategies, case examples, and contemporary surgical and non-surgical approaches to mucogingival defect management.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Recognize mucogingival and peri-implant soft tissue deficiencies through clinical examination and diagnosis.

• Explain the significance of keratinized tissue and soft tissue thickness in maintaining periodontal and implant health, esthetics, and patient comfort.

• Evaluate and select appropriate treatment strategies, including surgical and non-surgical interventions, to address mucogingival defects and optimize outcomes.
