Dr. De Cardona was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He received his undergraduate training at the University of Puerto Rico- Aguadilla Campus, completing a Bachelor’s in Science with concentration in Biology in 2004. He obtained his dental education (DMD) at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Dental Medicine in 2008. Dr De Cardona was the recipient of Army Dental Scholarship and upon graduation he joined the US Army on Active Duty. In 2009 Dr De Cardona completed a 1-year AEGD residency at Fort Benning, GA. From 2009-2012 Dr De Cardona served as a Brigade Dentist with the 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, TX serving as a general dentist. He completed his specialty training in 2015 at US Army Advanced Education Program in Periodontology in Fort Gordon, Augusta- GA. While in residency, Dr. De Cardona completed a Master’s of Science with concentration in Oral Biology from Augusta Regents University in GA.
Upon graduation from residency, Dr. De Cardona became an Associate Professor at the Post-Graduate Dental School, Uniformed Service University and returned to Fort Hood, Killeen-TX where he served as a Periodontology Mentor at the 2-year AEGD Program and Officer in Charge of Fairbanks Dental Clinic. In 2017 Dr. De Cardona completed his board certification in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery from the American Academy of Periodontolgy. From 2018-2021 Dr. De Cardona served as a Periodontist in the Landstuhl Specialty Dental Clinic in Germany. In 2021, Dr. De Cardona was assigned to Fort Bliss, El Paso-TX where he currently serves as Officer in Charge of Chambers Dental Clinic and assistant Periodontology Mentor at the 1-year AEGD program.
In his free time, Dr. De Cardona enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his son’s basketball team, golfing, and cooking.
