F03A : Soft Tissue Conditions Around Teeth and Dental Implants: Diagnosis and Management of Deficiencies and Complications

Course Summary:

This evidence-based lecture reviews the diagnosis, prevention, and management of mucogingival and peri-implant soft tissue deficiencies, highlighting their impact on long-term treatment success. Participants will learn to recognize common soft tissue deficiencies and complications, understand the biologic principles that influence treatment outcomes, and evaluate contemporary surgical and non-surgical treatment options.

• Describe the anatomy, biology, and clinical significance of periodontal and peri-implant soft tissues.
• Differentiate between mucogingival conditions affecting natural teeth and peri-implant soft tissue deficiencies.
• Assess gingival phenotype, keratinized tissue width, vestibular depth, recession defects, and peri-implant soft tissue characteristics using contemporary diagnostic methods.
• Identify etiologic and risk factors contributing to mucogingival and peri-implant soft tissue deficiencies and complications.
