Course Summary:
Periodontal therapies are being introduced to dental professionals at a rapid pace. This course will provide a comprehensive in depth view of the current and future concepts of periodontal treatment. The etiology, diagnosis and contemporary evidence based treatment of periodontal diseases will be covered in detail. Participants will learn how to incorporate the latest technologies into everyday practice including instrumentation, local delivery products and host modulation drugs. Attendees will learn the indications for non-surgical therapy and surgical treatment for their patients.
At the end of the program, attendees will have learned to:
• know the differences between past and contemporary etiology and diagnosis of periodontal disease
• compare the most current concepts of periodontal treatments and know when and how to apply them
• incorporate new technologies into every practice, including the use of instruments, equipment, local delivery products, and host modulation drugs
• understand and describe the fundamentals of the oral/systemic link
• negotiate between evidence based and non-evidence based periodontal therapies
